Buying local means food and beverages travel less distances, and also ensures money is invested in the local economy.

Costs and Benefits

The closer food is grown to you, the fresher it is. And of course, the fresher the produce, the better it tastes! Food also starts to lose nutrients as soon as it’s picked, so the quicker you eat it, the better it is for you.

Local goods, especially if they are grown in-season, can have a lower environmental footprint and are often cheaper because they require less transportation and energy to produce.

When you buy local food and beverages, you are directly supporting your local economy, by helping keep people in your community in jobs and pumping cash into the pockets of your local neighbours.

Accreditation Standards
